MOMENTS at Open Studios
It was a great Open Studio that felt more fluid than previous ones. There was a steady stream of visitors. Lots of good conversations and sharings. The weather was perfect and we had the added excitement of our first Developing Environments Art Auction to give the weekend extra interest. I hosted art making tables so some guests made totem boats on Saturday night.
The latest installation- "Turning"- made its debut in the center of the studio where visitors could walk all around and even inside the circle as these two kids are doing.
The hanging sculpture had collected more boats and curvy raffia after Julian Guthrie interviewed me and Anna Vignet came to my studio to take photos for the SF Chronicle. The other addition was the compass rose painted beneath "Turning" to give direction and help ground the piece.
