DRAWING at Night

The Spiritboatist finalizes a drawing

My natural rhythm for making art is in the evening.
That is  when I find the right combo of influences. It is quieter in my industrial neighborhood and the city seems calmer. The studio has good lights and I can work fairly uninterrupted.

I treasure the nights when I get a good run going for hours with a multiple of pieces to play off each other. It is so energizing to have a nice stack of work ready for the final touches.

Chalks, charcoal, inks, coffee staining and heavy paper are some of my favorite tools. I often use posters that I paint over with latex as my base support.
